AVIS PERSONNEL :
« I Melt With You » est la chanson qui rendit le groupe de new wave, post-punk Modern English célèbre dans les années 80. Formé en 1979 à Colchester dans l’Essex en Angleterre par Robbie Grey (chant), Gary McDowell (guitare, chant), et Michael Conroy (basse, chant), le groupe se fit d’abord connaître sous le nom The Lepers. En 1982 ils sortent ce titre reconnaissable dès les premières notes de guitares qui fut produit par Hugh Jones.
Très utilisée pour de nombreuses publicités, c’est surtout le long métrage Valley Girl qui fit sa popularité. Reprise à plusieurs reprises dans des films et séries télévisées, elle a connu deux nouvelles versions. Une en 2004 du groupe Nouvelle Vague et une en 2006 du groupe de rock Bowling for Soup.
C’est la version du groupe Nouvelle Vague qui illustre la magnifique scène d’amour entre Alex et Jessica dans l’épisode 3 de la série britannique Mistresses. Et la chanson joue un très grand rôle, je peux vous l’assurer.
