Gossip est un groupe de rock américain indépendant formé en 1999 dans la ville d’Olympia à Washington par la chanteuse Beth Ditto, la guitariste Brace Paine, et la batteuse Kathy Mendonca. Très vite repéré, le groupe enregistre sa première démo chez un label indépendant en 1999. Le 09 Septembre 2003 Kathy Mendonca quitte le groupe pour poursuivre une carrière paramédicale et est remplacée par Hannah Blilie.
Appartenant à la mouvance indépendante, le groupe est peu connu des médias mais voit sa base de fans grandir de jours en jours. Le succès mondial intervient en 2006 avec la sortie de leur troisième album, Standing in the Way of Control. Le titre du même nom présenté ici est une réponse à la proposition de loi visant à annuler les mariages entre personnes du même sexe. Un remix de la chanson deviendra d’ailleurs très populaire puisqu’il apparaîtra dans la série britannique Skins.
Le dernier album du groupe, Music for Men est sorti le 19 Juin 2009 et a été très bien accueilli par la critique.
